If you need information about making your mortgage payments, replacing legal documents, getting health insurance and other legal issues try the website for the From the River to the Lake Project developed by the New Orleans Coalition for Legal Aid and Disaster Relief.

The Urban Conservancy
a group contributing to maintaining the historic urban fabric of New Orleans, by spreading the word. They have some great content on the site. The have a mailing list as well.
The Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans
"The Preservation Resource Center is a private non-profit organization that promotes the preservation of New Orleans architecture and neighborhoods through a variety of
initiatives and programs." They will be very important in maintaining New Orleans Culture while improving the city, which is one of the things I believe in very strongly. They also have a community related mailing list with lots of helpful tips and they list neighboorhood meetings as well.
American Red Cross
They are massively helpful in Katrina Recovery, they are truly taking a massive undertaking to help the whole city.
